LIUNA / Enrico Henry Mancinelli Professorship in Global Labour Issues
In July 2003 the LIUNA / Henry Enrico Mancinelli Professorship in Global Labour Issues was created at McMaster University to improve society's understanding of the relationship between globalization and labour. The professorship will deal with 3 sets of issues:
- Organizational challenges, such as how workers and farmers should organize themselves
- Cultural challenges, examining how people in different countries cooperate for a common cause
- Resource challenges, such as how trade unions and worker organizations mobilize human and financial resources.

The inaugural holder of the professorship is Robert O'Brien, associate professor of political science and associate director of the Institute on Globalization and the Human Condition.
Robert's research publications include: Global Political Economy: Evolution and Dynamics ; Global Unions? Theories and Strategy of Organized Labour in the Global Political Economy ; Contesting Global Governance: Multilateral Economic Institutions and Global Social Movements. He is also actively involved in the Globalism and Social Policy Programme and is North American editor of Global Social Policy.
